Biography

Hi there, I'm Sigita Hjort, a ceramist from Lithuania who goes by the name Mira Ceramics. I'm currently based in Copenhagen and have been working with clay for most of my life. My passion for ceramics began at a young age, and I've always been fascinated by Japanese ceramics and tea-ware in particular. I studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lithuania, where I spent a year as a ceramic student at Anadolu University in Turkey to further my skills and knowledge. In 2018, I moved to Copenhagen and started teaching ceramics while also creating my own designs. I primarily work with porcelain and use a potter's wheel to shape my pieces. I'm constantly exploring new shapes and combinations of raw materials to create functional and aesthetically pleasing teaware. I find inspiration in the rich history and cultural significance of teaware, and I strive to bring my unique perspective to the art form through my innovative designs. I'd love to share my love for tea and ceramics with you and invite you to join me at my upcoming ceramic teapot making workshops on ARTXP. Let's get creative and make beautiful teapots together.
