“I sometimes think there is nothing so delightful as drawing.” – Vincent Van Gogh Join me at Kester Thomas, the cozy and elegant Champagne & Cocktails Bar in the heart of Copenhagen, for an intimate session of figure drawing. Over the course of 2 hours I will guide you in drawing and capturing the shape and movement of the beautiful male figure, all while enjoying delicious cocktails in the company of old and new friends. Our professional figure drawing model will be posing in an intimate setting, while you will observe the gesture of the movement, and draw the body in various positions and expressions. The session will include some of the basic drawing instructions & demonstrations, various exercises to get you going, and tips & tricks on how to get from a few simple lines to a recognisable human figure, by capturing the mood and movement of the model. At the end of the session you will have a collection of drawings that you will take home with you. Suitable for the seasoned and the curious, this experience is designed for everyone. For those who want to practice their skills and learn new techniques, and for those who have never drawn before and want to experience figure drawing in a relaxed informal atmosphere. Our host at Kester Thomas will prepare a delicious cocktail as a welcome drink, and there will be many more varieties to choose from during the event (non-alcoholic option available). Figure drawing is quick and sketchy drawings of a live model. Drawings are usually made in a few minutes, after which the model changes pose and another sketch is drawn. It is a mindful practice as it connects you to what you are looking at, training your eye-hand coordination and freeing yourself of the expectation of a "perfect" drawing. Drawing the human figure is an excellent way to improve skills in observational drawing and is a wonderfully stimulating and challenging exercise. Spending time drawing another person also encourages empathy, and strengthens problem-solving and critical thinking skills. More than that, it's fun and the satisfaction of drawing and mark making releases endorphins, so you get happy and relaxed.
