Discover linoprinting in this immersive workshop led by an experienced, local artist. Over the course of 3 hours, you will delve into the art of carving and printing to create unique and personalised linocut prints. The workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to linoprinting techniques, from design conception to the final print. There will be examples and references on hand for inspiration, but you can also come with your own sketches. The linoleum block size that will be used for printing is 10 cm x 15 cm, so make sure your design fits within that size. Don't feel confident in drawing? No worries! You can use reference images and trace your chosen design. I can guarantee you will leave feeling like an accomplished artist, no matter your creative level. What you will learn: - Understand how to create a simple single-colour print - Develop a clear understanding of the steps needed to plan, design and carve a print - Carve a single block print from a reference image or by drawing directly onto the block - Hand burnish or press a print using soft lino blocks and water-based inks. - Take home a print that you can frame or give as a gift Your booking includes: - Expert Guidance: Learn from artist Kate Saunders from Kit and Caboodle Prints, who will guide participants through each step of the linoprinting process. Receive personalised tips, tricks, and feedback throughout the session. - Materials Provided: All necessary materials, including linoleum blocks, carving tools, printing ink, brayers, and paper, are supplied. At the end you can take your finished block home, along with your resulting prints. - Carving Techniques: Gain hands-on experience with linocut carving tools to create intricate and visually captivating designs. Kate will demonstrate different carving techniques and methods, ensuring participants feel confident in their creative process. - Individual and Group Support: Enjoy a supportive and collaborative atmosphere where participants can share ideas, seek advice throughout the session, and get a chance to do a creative activity together with friends or colleagues. - Take Home Your Masterpieces: Leave the workshop with a collection of your own linocut prints, showcasing your newfound skills and unique artistic flair. During the session you will have time to carve 1 - 2 printing blocks and leave with at least 3-5 printed editions. - Light refreshments will be provided to accompany the creative process, including drinks, snacks and fruit. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this linoprinting workshop promises an enriching experience filled with creativity, learning, and the joy of artistic expression.
